Paradiso, by Steve Capelin is a book based on true events about emigrant hope and coming to terms with reality.
While this is not a contemporary story, the themes and concepts are as relevant today as they were in the 1800s. Today there are ethnic minorities and refugees from different parts of the world, risking everything to cross oceans in leaky boats in a desperate attempt to reach a foreign shore and forge a better life.
The concept for the Paradiso imagery was to remain contemporary and pique the reader's interest with a forlorn human face full of sadness. The sailing boat provides the period context and depicts a journey with an island destination. The bright lit horizon beckons with hope that something better is waiting for them, while the restless seas reminds us that this is a journey of anxiety, questioning decisions and perhaps regret.
